Pune: Aspire F.C remained unbeaten with a 1-0 win over Pune Soccer Club and lifted the Beti Suraksha Abhiyan Cup Women’s 9-A-Side football tournament at the Don Bosco Youth Centre ground, on Sunday.
The four-day tournament was organized by the Foundation Free A Girl (India), in association with AFA Samford under the aegis of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA).
The all-important goal was scored by Sejal Dhanwade (15th) in the first half. Each half was played over 20 minutes each.
In a dominating display all through the tournament Aspire F.C ended up without conceding a single goal and ended up scoring 17 goals in three rounds of the competition. Aspire F.C opened with a 7-0 win over Diego Juniors with Sejal netting a hat-trick, Ritika Singh (2 goals) and Vaishnavi Barate and Tanaya Gaikwad one each accounting for the tally. Later, in the semifinals Aspire F.C beat Commandos 9-0 after Vaishnavi (4 goals), Sejal (3 goals), Tanya (2 goals) did well.
The title was Aspire F.C’s third after winning the Rise Up 2022 title and Kurukshetra Women’s Open previously over the 2022-23 season.
Aspire F.C’s Sejal (7 goals) was awarded the ‘Best Player of the Tournament’,

while goalkeeper Anjali Barke was adjudged Best Goalkeeper for a clean sheet.
